Geodesic Domes
This past weekend my family and I were Wisconsin Dells for vacation and I found this jungle gym at one of the motels. At first I wanted to take a picture of it, because I thought it was an icosahedron (it's not), but it is a really nice picture of a pretty unique geodesic dome. We have a few jungle gyms similar to this in our city park, but I haven't ever seen one exactly like this before. Look at the pictures I've uploaded and try to figure out how many equilateral triangles are used in the construction of the dome. How many triangles come together at each vertex? Do you have jungle gyms like this in your home town? Is it exactly the same? If not, how is it different? I hope you are enjoying your summer! See you in a few weeks.
